Kenyan artist Michael Mugo, popularly known for his song “Bangi” as part of the music band ‘Just Imagine Africa,’ has passed away.

Mugo, who served as the lead vocalist, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist for ‘Just Imagine Africa,’ gained recognition for his controversial party anthem “Bangi,”

In his party anthem “Bangi,” he openly discussed his use of marijuana and the need to legalize it.

On the same hit track that blew up on the social media platform TikTok with an animation, he shuns those in society who criticise the use of marijuana.

Just Imagine Africa band consisted of other members, which include, Daniel Mbithi, Dominic Juma, Wambui Ng’ang’a, Arlon Mwangi, Brian Joseph, Joel Djowa, and Marlon Aduvaga.

Mugo openly conveyed that marijuana helped him deal with daily challenges in the life of an average youth in Kenya.

Consequently, Mugo’s message resonated with many users, leading the music video for the song to amass over 800K+ views on YouTube.

According to information streaming in, Michael’s death is allegedly being ruled out as a suicide.

Mugo’s Marijuana Campaign?

The song “Bangi” marked a significant milestone as it was the first mainstream music track to glorify marijuana.

Due to the song’s notoriety, active discussions emerged over why the use of Marijuana is still illegal.

This has seen different independent campaigns in the last three years promote having a dialogue over Marijuana

One of the most notable campaigns has got to be former presidential candidate Wajackoyah’s attempt.

Nevertheless, just like Michael, Wajackoyah’s popularity went through the roof over his active campaign of legalizing Marijuana and farming Hemp.

Hemp, (Cannabis sativa), also industrial hemp, plant of the family Cannabaceae cultivated for its bast fibre or its seeds.

In addition, its seed can be used in a number of ways and can be consumed.

Consequently, Hemp is sometimes confused with the cannabis plants that serve as sources of the drug marijuana.
