Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o posted a cryptic message on his social media on Wednesday night.
This is following his expulsion from the Orange Democratic Party (ODM).
Jalang’o quotes the Bible
“No trial is too heavy to lift. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.”
Jalang’o further added, “God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
This message was inspired by the Bible book of Corinthians 10:13.
Jalang’o was expelled alongside four other MPs namely Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba South) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.
The party’s National Executive Committee stated the reason for expulsion as defying party position and gross misconduct.
Jalang’o and colleagues plans to defect
The five MPs paid a visit to President William Ruto earlier this year. It was alleged that defection plans were underway.
In an interview on Radio 47’s breakfast show last week, he maintained that he has not decamped to the ruling party United Democratic Alliance arguing he saw a need to work with the President for the benefit of the Lang’ata people.
Why people laugh at Jalang’o
“Lengo langu kuanzia mwanzo lilikuwa kufanyia watu wa Lang’ata kazi.” ((My only goal was to work for the people of Lang’ata.)
“Nilishinda Nixon Korir na kura 1,600 tu. Hii ina maana kuwa kuna chama mbili zinazotawala Lang’ata: ODM na UDA (I defeated Nixon Korir by 1,600 votes meaning ODM is just as strong as UDA in lang’ata),” he argued.
“Mimi nilipigania chama changu, ODM, mpaka watu hunienjoy wakisema nilibeba “hot air.”
This means, “I fought for my party, ODM, to the extent people still make fun of me for carrying “hot air” to the Supreme Court”.
Ruto never asked us to defect
He explained how he ended up posing for a photo with President Ruto.
“Nilikubali mwito wa Rais kwenda Ikulu. Hakuna siku alituambia tuachane na chama. (I accepted President Ruto’s invitation to State House, there is no day he has ever asked us to decamp)
What Jalang’o discussed with Ruto
Tuliongea kuhusu TVET na affordable housing Lang’ata (We discussed TVET and affordable housing)”
“Rais alituambia tupige picha, na tukapigwa, ile picha ilivyowekwa mtandaoni, mambo yakachemka
According to Jalang’o, the President asked them to take a picture that caused things to hit up.
