“Leave Ababu alone, deal with Uasin Gishu!” Herman Manyora tells Shollei

Political Analyst Herman Manyora has lashed out at National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei for attacking Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba.

“Gladys Shollei should be hiding in shame instead of attacking Ababu Namwamba. Where does she get the courage to talk about Ababu when the county leadership in Uasin Gishu is stealing from the poor?” Manyora questioned her in a social media post on Wednesday.

This comes a day after Shollei raised several accusations against the CS during a local interview. She was supporting Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah’s proposal to summon Namwamba over complaints from athletes.

The Uasin Gishu Woman Representative castigated Namwamba for failing to receive athletes, most of whom come from her background in Rift Valley.

“Coming from Uasin Gishu where most athletes come from it’s very painful, I listen to them. Every time they have landed they have come to my home here in Kitusuru because the CS is not bothered,” Shollei added.

She went on to claim that athletes are ‘forced’ to fly economy while the ministry official gives priority to his aides for the business and first-class flying option.

“The other day when our team went to Tunisia for the beach games they were wearing fake sports uniforms, knockoffs from Riveroad. If you look at the team that went to Trinidad and Tobago they were also wearing fake uniforms. It just asks you by the time a country reaches a point where our athletes are wearing fake uniforms there is really something wrong.”

Manyora chided Shollei for failing to speak up on the Finland and Canada scholarship scandal which has affected hundreds of students from Uasin Gishu county.

“Where does she get the courage to talk about Ababu when the county leadership in Uasin Gishu is stealing from the poor? Deal with the untouchables of scholarships and job scams,” the analyst opined.

The CS is expected to appear before National Assembly today (Wednesday) at 3 pm for questioning.
